Frodo and Sam are on their way to Mordor, pursued by Gollum. Merry and Pippin escape the clutches of the Orcs and encounter the strange Ents, who accompany them to Saruman's tower, Orthanc, which they destroy. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli reunite with Gandalf at the edge of Fangorn Forest.

Auf dem Weg nach Mordor sind Frodo und Sam, verfolgt von Gollum. Merry und Pippin entkommen den Fängen der Orks und begegnen den wunderlichen Ents, die sie bis zu Sarumans Turm Orthanc begleiten, den sie zerstören. Aragorn, Legolas und Gimli treffen am Rande des Fangorn-Waldes wieder auf Gandalf.
